just finished the art of racing in the rain. while the first half of the book was essentially adventureless, the last half was really good. filled with the oftentimes deep philosophical musings of the loyal and observant canine, it’s insightful, poignant and told from a new and refreshing perspective.

up next is the road by cormac mccarthy. which recently won the 2007 Pulitzer Prize. mccarthy write no country for old men and all the pretty horses. i’ve only ever seen the movie adaptation of no country which leads me to believe the road going to contain a bit of a gothic element. and that’s  fine, as long as it’s written well, which is what i’m hoping all his awards are indicative of. we shall see. never know with those american writers though –not quite the rich heritage {in my opinion} of the brits.

we shall see. the it’s on its way to me via media mail at this moment. and at this moment it could be waiting in the mailbox.

are canned christmas gifts kitschy? due to centsational girl along with a bunch of other posts i’ve been seeing about the blogisphere, i believe they’re making a comeback and have far improved from layered cookie mixes.

would you think it odd if you received caramelized onions for christmas with recipes for such treats as brie laden appetizers and french onion soup?

here’s a sewing machine closely resembling the one i recently acquired. 1957 Singer. not only is it truly a beautiful  antique but it has been well cared for, has all the attachments for everything from piped hems, button holes to ruffles to PLEATS! i’m obviously going to need some serious book reading or schooling from an octogenarian seamstress in order to figure out how to use all those things but. nevertheless. i’ve been wanting a sewing machine. this one was not only free, in working condition but it also looks cool. so freakin’ cool.

oh and it came with millions of buttons and thread on old wooden spools. presh.
