it’s old fashioned but practical. and i think it’s coming back into vogue, like sewing our clothes and even needlepoint and embroidery as my generation embraces those skills our grandmother’s generation saw as necessary skills that then became no longer necessary and thus outdated, and so they didn’t want to burden their daughters (our mothers) with them. so now the granddaughters want to revive them for both their practicality and their old charm.

someday. i want to make canned preserves to give as gifts. it’s on my high aspiration to do list, as in my someday list, not my get a car wash and pay the bills list. along with making bagels.
