get over your naked self.

I had the opportunity to do a book review on a book by Austinite Susie Davis.

scandalous, right?

It was an easy, quick and humorous read! Susie’s voice in this book is honest, candid, so down to earth, realistic and funny. I highly recommend the chapters on body image and materialism. Two very real and undoubtedly powerful aspects of marriage that I’d never encountered in other marriage books (read: newlywed classes). My favorite chapter was called “Why Saying Thanks is a Big Deal” and I loved the documentation over her internal struggle with simply saying thanks for helping unload the dishes, “Well, I could thank him, but this really isn’t my job to put away the dishes –it’s our job. For heaven’s sake, he dirties just as many fork and plates as I do…” Nail on the head. That goes through my head all the time.

Uncovered is available May 2010 at your favorite book seller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing group.
