christmas eve

We enjoyed waffles this morning from John Besh’s My Family Table. (THANKS Granaghans!) And will probably be lounging around the fire today, staying clear of the cold, wet weather. Although Taylor did unexpectedly inform me over the waffles this morning that his plans for the day include color coordinating his closet. I’ve always admired his ambition.

I just enjoyed a girl’s trip to New York! Not only was it a fun time with family but I got to see some great shows and see two of my best friends while I was there!

Making some time for traditional Christmas treat decorating was a must.

Merry Christmas!

Recently, Taylor treated me to a mid-week lunch date at La Boite where they serve French pastries and tweet their daily sandwich specials each morning. La Boite just opened a second location downtown on Wednesday and is getting lots of local love.

Chicken salad. Tea. Lemonade. Baguette bread. Al fresco.

I hope you celebrated the first day of fall on Friday with some pumpkin bread or a spice candle! The weather actually got in the spirit as well; it was in the 80s most of the morning! {soo chilly!} We traveled to College Station yesterday {to get beat by OSU} and I loved seeing a bunch of college friends. Unfortunately I didn’t take enough pictures.

Hey T-H-E-T-A

I also met Shiner here who sits in chairs and wears sunglasses.

#Priceless. The type of tailgating trinkets to which I aspire.

Speaking of eating. I’ve checked pumpkin pancakes and candy corn off my list, but here are more things I must make.

Pumpkin butter

 Spiced banana bread…with nuts, and maybe grated carrots. Must include crunchiness.

lemon pancakes with sauteed apples

biscuits + peach butter

the weekend: {acl2011}

Well Saturday will be hard to top. I had a great weekend and I must share. I’m a little bummed it’s all over.

The festival.

I’m still in shock as to how Saturday happened. First I had tickets to see my favorite band everrrr on Saturday and could have died happy. Then among the selections on my “acl2011” playlist, I jam to Fitz & The Tatrums and Arcade Fire’s most recent albums all week to gear up for the weekend {don’t knock it}. Get super excited about them only to further score tix at the end of the week with a great friend to both of these bands’ shows after ACL. #whattheheck #pinchmeplease

Saturday in reverse order….

Fitz & the Tantrums after show. Motown danceparty. Their opener Aloe Blacc was a blast as well.

An AWESOME taping of Arcade Fire at ACL theater. So much talent, so much fun, so much craziness. I missed Stevie Wonder for this and totally made the right choice.

Live, up close, musical perfection. Truly a dream come true to partake in a performance by the greatest
voices and instrumental mastery on this side of heaven… Alison Krauss & Union StationDan Tyminski at the guitar on the right, Ron Block, Jerry Douglas left on the dobro and Barry Bales on bass. I got choked up. I took videos. I will relive them.

Oh plus friends. Dear fun friends! {thanks for taking pictures!}

In addition to Fitz and the Tantrums, Aloe Blacc and The Belle Brigade, a playlist here with more of my favorite highlights from Austin City Limits.

Back to the grind! My life is never this cool. Tomorrow I have plans to pick up some dog food and vacuum my living room. #lesigh

I hope y’all had a great fourth of July weekend! We spent the weekend in Fort Worth celebrating the marriage of one of my very best friends and getting to hang out with many much missed pals from college.

In keeping with good old American traditions, I want to go to a drive in movie! Locate one near you here and take some snacks and sweets!

Among the little twists on classic snacky fare in the links above, besides those crazy cookies I’d never be able to pull off, I want to make these.

mmmmmm. Chocolate chip cookies and oreos. Only think missing there is a glass of cold milk. God Bless America.
